Thoughts on Full Motorcycle Training

It is very helpful to understand a few things about the process, if you are thinking about DAS training. For starters, to get this full and unrestricted motorbike license, you will have to be at least 24 years of age or older. And if for more than 2 years you have held an A2 bike license, by retaking the test on an unrestricted motorcycle, you can simply upgrade it. And once you successfully pass the DAS full motorcycle training, the great news is that you will be able to operate any motorbike or scooter. You can ride a full or automatic bike, if you pass on a manual bike. Your license will be restricted to automatics only if you pass the test on an automatic.

You are going to need to have a driver’s license that is valid, in addition to being the appropriate age. You will not need to complete the Compulsory Basic Training or CBT, if you do not have an A2 motorcycle license previously existing. Completion of the motorcycle theory test is one of the requirements necessary to schedule the DAS motorcycle training. Once the test has been passed, the motorcycle theory test certificate number will be issued to you so that you may then book the DAS test. Involved with the DAS motorcycle training will be successfully passing the DVSA module 1 & 2.

An off-road test is what Module 1 is and it lasts for 12 minutes. It is designed to test your control of the machine and handling skills at both high and low speeds. Module 2 is designed to test your ability to operate well on the motorbike when in traffic and is a 35 minute test on the road. You are going to want your tests to be conducted on a motorcycle with 595cc and at least a power output of 53bhp, if you want a license permitting you to operate bikes with no restriction of power. If a DAS bike is something you are not used to handling, so you don’t topple over when you come to a stop, make certain you stay properly balanced. And if you are not certain when to brake, always brake sooner and not later. So you can pass both modules, allow yourself sufficient time to practice.
